Julie Dixon

Julie Dixon

Partner

Growing up on a mountain in the beautiful state of Tennessee, Julie's love for the South and its landscape runs deep. After receiving her bachelor's degree at Dartmouth College, she made her way back to Charlottesville to pursue a graduate degree in Architecture at the University of Virginia with a certificate in Historic Preservation. Her passion for southern aesthetics and traditional architecture inspired her to rehabilitate and restore the 19th century Rosney Farm in Buckingham county, where she now resides with her husband and three children. This loving restoration served as the seminal moment for the development of her own practice, which she co-founded with Keith Scott in 2005. Since then, her body of work has included projects ranging from small renovations to new single-family homes and large-scale commercial work.

A few years after returning, she met Julie and Keith and has been with Rosney Co. Architects since. She has been a key member of several projects, including the 2015 Southern Living Idea House. She draws inspiration from the beauty of the Virginia countryside, where she lives with her husband and son.

Keith Scott

Partner

A native and long time resident of Charlottesville, Keith has a unique affinity for Virginia and its rich architectural legacy. Following his education in landscape architecture at Virginia Tech, he decided to remain in Blacksburg to pursue his graduate degree in architecture. His body of work is vast and diverse, including projects he designed while under the mentorship of such iconic architects as Aldo Rossi and Daniel Rowen in New York, NY. As his family grew, the confines of Manhattan compelled him to return to his Virginia roots in Charlottesville with his wife and four children. In the years since co-founding Rosney Co. with Julie Dixon, he has developed a passion and skill for balancing traditional aesthetics with contemporary needs. Through his education and experience in landscape architecture, Keith finds inspiration in the connection between building and landscape, a connection which serves as a starting point for each new design.

"Any building that exhibits thoughtful design, elegant simplicity and a high level of craftsmanship inspires me. That may be the Lawn at UVA, a barn in Albemarle County, a mill in the Shenandoah Valley or one of the many simple farmhouses that dot our landscape."
